The Nation’s Capital is usually the epicenter of attention these days, and I recently had a chance to spice things up even further with some trademark Maximum Flavor! Along with having an opportunity to join Great Day Washington to showcase some Maximum Flavor style tailgating recipes, I took in a couple of landmarks, although not necessarily the kind you might expect.
While there’s plenty of history to absorb, I was in the mood to partake in some of the city’s gastronomic sights! That path led me to Arroz, a high-end dining experience that transports you to the Iberian Peninsula and gives you a taste of Spain and Portugal, with a hint of the Moroccan influence that permeates the cuisine of both. From the elegant decor to “must-tries” like the foie gras parfait, fried cauliflower, patatas bravas and the Berkshire Pig Bomba Rice, a visit to this treasure trove of deliciousness will enchant your taste buds!
Not only does DC impress with its dining, their happy hour scene packs a punch too! The Mediterranean-inspired Tredici Enoteca offers a full menu, but its cocktails and late-afternoon ambiance truly stand out. The giant, picturesque windows that surround the bar area in panoramic style give you the perfect view of gorgeous sunsets, an experience that one of their delicious craft cocktails complements to perfection!
I finished pleasing my palate and senses with a stop at Riggsby, a speakeasy-style eatery that drips with Casablanca-era glamour. Jalapeño hush puppies that totally satiated my spice and flavor addictions and the perfectly concocted New York Sour that accompanied it left no room for debate—the DC restaurant scene gets my vote hands down!
